Spiral Arm Red and Spiral Arm Blue use a four-pointed star pattern motif to produce glitches when weaving images of the cosmos. The motif represents omnidirectional expansion outward from a single point. Here, it is used as an anti-compass that breaks down images of mapping and cartography. Each star conjoins with the next in an expansive spiral and fractal-like maze. Spiral Arm points to borderless and infinite, symbolizing the potential for a cosmos outside the Western gaze. The wool yarn is hand-dyed in cochineal and indigo, providing shades of reds and vibrant blues, which ground each work in grown and hand-processed materials.
